Colchester`s Kevin Watson recently admitted that his relief at being involved on the football field once more, after fearing at one stage that he might never don stripes again.

Watson, whose much-anticipated return came last week in the draw against Plymouth Argyle, said in the Colchester Evening Gazette: “It was just good to be back out there and playing with the boys again.

“It’s been very frustrating – at one point I did question whether I was going to play again.

‘I broke down twice but we seem to have cracked it now and the pleasing thing was that my Achilles was good.’

The 33-year-old had been out since the end of last season, but played an hour against Ian Holloway’s Plymouth before lining up against Watford over the weekend.
