THE U’S have no plans to replace Paul Lambert with St. Mirren manager, Gus MacPherson, – at least not according to the man himself!

I don`t know anything about it,” he told the BBC on Saturday.

Things have moved since on, but MacPherson seemed surprised at the news when he spoke during the radio interview on Saturday, after his side`s 2-1 win over Kilmarnock.

I`m delighted that I`ve got a job and am respectful to be in this position. We`re just trying our best here at St. Mirren; when jobs come up down south, you get linked with them. It means you are doing something right. Much of that credit goes to the group of players,” he enthused.

Today, however, Colchester say they have interview an in-work manager on Sunday and have narrowed the shortlist down to a final six candidates.

MacPherson has won the Scottish League Cup, and brought St. Mirren to the SPL, since arriving in 2003.

The burning question is, after sour experiences with both Lambert defecting to Norwich and George Burley upping sticks to Ipswich in 1994 before that, would U`s supporters really be ready for another Scotsman?
