Scott Vernon produced his best home score of the season in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Coca-Cola Championship, and was the highest scoring midfielder of the week in the Index.

Vernon scored either side of the break to notch his sixth and seventh goals of the campaign – which have come from 27 shots – in Colchester United`s 2-0 win over Ipswich Town.

The 24-year-old posted 44 points – his second highest this term and the third highest in the latest Index – to move 40 places to 263rd in the Index with 205 points.

Colchester, who were relegated on Wednesday following Barnsley`s win at Watford, have two players in the top 100 with Johnnie Jackson in 58th with 420 points and Kevin Lisbie in 75th with 395 points.

Analysis of all Championship games is taking place throughout the season and so far the top five Colchester players are:

Player, Ranking, Position Ranking, Index Score

Johnnie Jackson, 58th, 14th Ranked, Midfielder, 420

Kevin Lisbie, 75th, 19th Ranked Striker, 395

Mark Yeates, 151st, 44th Ranked Midfielder, 296

Clive Platt, 157th, 37th Ranked Striker, 290

Dean Gerken, 184th, 20th Ranked Goalkeeper, 268

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
