John White will return to Colchester United after his month-long loan with Southend United expired – and just in time if you ask me!

The 23-year-old featured for the U’s fierce Essex rivals this afternoon, in a 2-1 defeat at Swindon Town, but looks set to make a U’s comeback.

White could, and should in my opinion, be drafted straight back into the first-team on his return to the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Due to a shoulder injury keeping Lee Beevers, who has started the season as first-choice right-back, out and his replacement’s Alan Maybury less-than-impressive showing against Leeds earlier today.

And with a new manager set to be announced in the coming days, White – who had looked to have played his last U’s game – could have a future just yet…

Yep – great news! With Beevers out, Maybury looked poor, never really been convinced by him! Johnny, White, White, White…!!!!

  • Matt_Us says:

To be fair to Maybury, he was climbed all over against Leeds. But still, White’s versatility means he’d be as good as a new signing, if indeed he gets some games!! They have been chanting his name in recent matches in the South Stand, too.

  • StevieG Col U says:

Yeah that tw*t Bradley Johnson was climbing and they, like other teams, were taking advantage of Maybury’s height! But he never really looked much good on the floor either! Up the U’s!

Welcome home, Whitey! May you never have to play for Southend again!!
