Two men made a generation apart at United, but could David Fox be heir to a tradition of midfield mastery manufactured in Manchester?
Colchester manger, Paul Lambert, has paid a gushing tribute to his new recruit David Fox, suggesting he has the tenacity to become the model of his ex-Manchester United team mate and England international, Paul Scholes.
“Foxy`s Brilliant,” Lambert said on BBC Radio Essex after the midfielder had netted a twenty-yard debut screamer against Norwich City at the weekend.
The Colchester boss added: “When I first signed him, somebody said he was the equivalent of Paul Scholes.
“If we can get him anywhere near Paul Scholes, he must be something. Fox comes from Manchester United, a terrific background.”
Fox,25, looks an astute signing, having arrived on a Bosman free transfer at the start of the summer.
He also played alongside fellow recent U`s addition, goalie Ben Williams, in his youth-team days at Old Trafford.
