One question remaining and yet to be answered by Colchester United manager Geraint Williams is: Will the U`s delve into the loan market to help ease thier current plight?
With Colchester`s defence leaking goals, left right and centre, an experienced defender could be on the cards – it is something that has been touted in the media during recent weeks.
Alternatively the U`s strike force could get a make-over. It is looking a little light-weight, with youngster Jamie Guy still returning to match fitness after a hamstring injury and Teddy Sheringham out suspended after picking up a three match ban for violent conduct following his red card at Coventry.
Colchester`s defence seems to have improved, with a better performance at Coventry, but this could still not prevent the U`s slipping to a third consecutive away defeat, going down 1-0 at the Ricoh.
With only Kevin Lisbie and Clive Platt available as on-form forwards right now for Williams to pick from, he may well decide to bolster his attacking options ahead of the televised visit of Leicester City on Saturday. The U`s play host to Plymouth Argyle four days later.
Last season, West Hams’ on-loan Hogan Eiphram, now with Queens Park Rangers, played a fundamental roll in the U`s tenth-place during thier maiden Championship season. The England youth international winger/striker made over twenty appearances for the Layer Road side, becoming a real fans favourite, scoring one goal in his six-month loan period.
Another loan gem like Eiphram could be just what Colchester need; come on George work your magic!
