Colchester United defender John White is hoping he will not be on the sidelines for too long after dislocating his elbow in the U`s narrow defeat against Bristol City on Saturday.

The 21-year-old full-back picked up the injury in a challenge with Robin`s winger Ivan Sproule and was carried off on a stretcher. White, who had a loan spell with Stevenage Borough towards the back end of 2007, has been a regular in the U`s line-up since the turn of the year, putting in some impressive performances.

White is hoping the injury is not as bad as first thought, he told The Colchester Gazette: ‘I can’t remember much about it but all I know is that I put my weight on my hand and he’s gone through my arm while it’s locked.’

‘Fingers crossed, it won’t be too long before I’m back.’ He added.

  • Indeed! The injuries upset the team, even though, as goalscorer Clive Platt has said, we took the lead after them! How did the formation work with the subs?

  • Well Granville isn’t taller enough to play centre-half, Jackson looked comfertable at left-back though. Hammond looked ok, will need to see him again before I make any judgements.
